  • Microsoft Slowly Gets FAST Search
The Web could not have grown the way it has without search engines, and perhaps the enterprise itself will experience limits to growth without extremely good search capability inside its own firewall. Certainly the market for enterprise search is huge, and under-serviced.

  • Gillmor on Microsoft
In the future it will be simple to look at Microsoft’s fate and call it obvious, but it sure is difficult right now to guess how the company will fare over the next few years. One thing does seem straightforward however: success or failure will surely hinge on how well Microsoft handles online computing, and the bridge between desktop and cloud.

Steve Gillmor has written another almost-subliminal work of explanation, this one celebrating Microsoft’s soon-to-be-obvious success at exactly this transition, from desktop apps and OS to cloud services, and back again. • APIs Remain a Great Integration Helper
CRM systems and the contact center between them constitute a lot of spaghetti for integration. Pulling the pieces together and getting them to talk to each other – in order to give the customer-facing agent a real-time position among other reasons – tends to be a unique proposition for each organization, each with its own legacy systems, often decades old. Helpers to this situation are appearing, in the form of third-party solutions.
